My Approach

My Approach.

Existential therapy is the heart of how I work. Here is what that actually means, in plain language.

If you have looked for a therapist lately, you have probably run into a wall of acronyms. CBT, DBT, EMDR, ACT. Existential therapy rarely makes those lists, and when people find it, they often feel a strange sense of recognition, like it names something they had been circling for a long time.

So what is it, really?

Starting with the bigger questions

Most therapy is aimed, understandably, at symptoms. The goal is to feel less anxious, less low, less stuck. Existential therapy cares about those things too, but it starts a layer deeper, with the questions underneath them. Questions about meaning, freedom, identity, connection, and how to live honestly in a world that offers no guarantees.

The idea is that a lot of what we call anxiety or depression is not just a malfunction to be corrected. It is often a signal, a sign that something in how we are living has drifted away from what actually matters to us. When we listen to that signal instead of only silencing it, it usually has something important to say.

What it helps with

People come to existential work for all kinds of reasons: a loss that reshaped everything, a transition that left them unsure who they are now, a success that somehow feels empty, or a low, persistent sense that life should feel more meaningful than it does. It fits especially well when the struggle is less a single problem to solve and more a question of how to live.

What it feels like in the room

In practice, it is less about techniques and more about honesty. Together we get curious about your actual life, the choices in front of you, the beliefs you inherited, the fears you rarely say out loud. There is no rush to fix you, because you are not broken. There is space to think out loud alongside someone who takes your inner world seriously.

I often tell people that I believe the answers they are looking for are already within them. My job is not to hand over a formula. It is to walk with you while you find what gives your life a sense of purpose, and to help you become who you were always meant to be.

If any of that resonates, that recognition is worth paying attention to. It is often the first step.
